Mixed media on wood and fabric

The work consists of a four-sided structure made of blue painted wood, on which is applied a square cloth decorated with rhomboids made of coloured squares against which the shapes of nine matches stand out. The matches are arranged in a row and consist of sticks of wood glued to the support using a collage technique. The ninth light, the shamash, is clearly identifiable because it is at the centre and taller than the others. The flames are symbolized by balls of red wool, glued to the tip of each match and painted brilliant red using tempera paint.
