Rough cast iron

The candelabrum , an exorcism against war inspired by a cartridge belt, is composed of an articulated series of nine square-sectioned tubes of rough, unfinished iron coated in gold dust. The tallest of these represents the shamash and sits on the far right. The modular repetition constitutes a unicum that holds the potential to be linked together and repeated ad infinitum. The artist’s decision to express herself through geometric forms is typical of her expressive language, which, in this case, converts the modularity and rhythmic flow so common in her paintings into three dimensions – a modularity that evokes, through the splendour of gold, an unknowable, sacred conception of the infinite.
