This lamp is formed by nine lead-crystal prisms set side by side to create a rough trapezoid structure. The irregular edges and surface, and the blunted points give the piece the appearance of a collection of ice cubes. The tallest prism sits at the centre, with four others on each side in descending order of height. All the prisms are formed from two pieces arranged a top the other. They have the same square cross-section but vary in height. The tallest, formed from three stacked pieces, represents the shamash. The indent in the upper surface holds the little lamp whose flame appears to be melting the ice cube.
